An exploration of medium and purity of expression, Tariq often uses found and sourced materials, found objects, handmade supports, to express raw inspiration and emotion, while questioning the topics of technique, commercialism, elitism, and continues to push the boundaries material limitation (an ongoing theme in his tattoo work) by emulating watercolor, oil, with materials sometimes as simple as things like pencil, ballpoint, pen and ink, children's art materials, repurposed office and tattoo supplies, and more.
